An early prototype of the unreleased Kung Fu Fighting for the Sony PlayStation 2.

Notes

  • Kung Fu Fighting was pitched as a game recreation of 70s martial arts action films, with a target release date in 2002 under the EA Sports label.
  • The game binary includes debug symbols.
  • The PRES0.PPZ file in the PROMO folder is actually a zip file. Use 7-zip to unpack it to view the game pitch PowerPoint slideshow and videos inside. (Some assets are shown below).
  • This game has rendering issues when ran on an emulator (multiple hacks/fixes tested), the game works without issue on original hardware.
  • This game works perfectly without problems emulating on PS3 by packaging the ISO in PKG format.
  • Pressing the START button while playing advances through the three levels of the game until you reach a screen that says "Coming Soon on PS2".

As mentioned above, this file is basically a .zip file and can be opened to extract the Powerpoint that the developers used to try and pitch the game, as well as the assets included within it.

Although this file suggests there is a demo build for the PC somewhere out there, it sadly is not included on this disc.

1) The PowerPoint

If you don't have power point, you can install a viewer by running ppview97.

Now that you have a method of viewing power point presentations, just run setup,

and choose a location that has at least 80 megs free.


Bonus Materials::

2) The Demo

You can try and run the PC demo of the one to many fight mechanic.

I recommend a TNT-2 or GForce level video card and a P-600 or higher.  You'll

need GL drivers which you probably have if you've played any games on your

computer.  If you don't, your video card vendor has them on their website.

You all also need a dual analog joystick, like a Hammerhead or a WingMan Rumblepad.

You use the left analog stick to move and aim blows.  A button puches, B button kicks.

Look for the PS2 demo May 8th! <shameless plug>

Missing Characters:

There are some characters that are included in the promo assets but are missing from the actual PS2 build.

  • Jack Hammer is named on the mock-up of the character selection screen and is shown in one rendered image.
  • The promo assets also feature some renders using a different alternate ninja character model.
  • An unknown enemy character is shown fighting the main character alongside Jack Hammer and some alternate ninja models.
