A prototype of My Melody: Negai ga Kanau Fushigi na Hako for the Nintendo 3DS.

Notes

  • This appears to be an earlier build than the August 17, 2015 prototype.
  • It loads directly into a debug menu with 6 options:
    • Menu: Presents the player with a list of all of the menus they can load into, including "TrialEnd", which is a screen signifying the end of the later unreleased demo.
    • Minigames: A list of the first 6 levels of the game a player can load into. Levels 7-12 are inaccessible from this menu, but can be accessed indirectly.
    • Adventure: A list of cutscenes in the main game, including the opening and closing scenes, pre and post-level scenes, and a test scene.
      • The opening and ending are just single textboxes and immediately end when progressed.
      • The pre and post-level scenes have dialogue that regularly differs from the final game, with characters sometimes appearing in different scenes. Pre-level cutscenes have a pure white background, while post-level ones are against the scrolling background utilised on the bottom screen throughout the game.
      • The test scene cycles through each character portrait and various pieces of dialogue, with a green version of the first coloring page unlocked in the final game as its background.
    • Setting: Displays a list of settings, allowing the player to set the last minigame cleared (which allows access to levels 7-12 when set to a high enough number and loading into either MinigameInst or completing a level), the ability to change the character between a version of My Melody's model with and without outlines, the skin used (non functional), among other toggleable settings.
    • Chara Viewer: A model viewer that allows the player to view the models for My Melody, Kuromi, a robot Kuromi and a fourth character absent from the final game. Their expressions can be changed, items from the game can be attached to them, animations can be cycled through and the lighting affecting the models can be changed. The first three characters have both models with and without outlines. This is also the only way to view My Melody's alternate hood colors within the prototype.
    • Effect Viewer: A viewer that allows the player to view the different particle effects in the game with a model of My Melody which can be rendered invisible.
    • Sound Test: A menu that allows the player to listen to the sound effects and music in the game, none of which are in the final game. It is likely these were sourced from a sound library or another game.
      • Notably, the VO sound "TitleCall_01" features a voice saying "Gatchaman", the name of an anime series.
  • The world map has a significantly different design and level icons unused in the final game, including a beach icon and an icon depicting two trees - one with a crying face and one with a sad expression.
    • Level numbers are displayed on the bottom screen and don't have names.
    • Areas past the second level are rendered inaccessible due to the level abruptly ending, this can be circumvented through the settings menu as described above.
  • My Melody's alternate hood colors can be selected from the same menu as the final game, but the model never actually changes.
  • All levels' preview image is a mockup of a snow level set at night, with My Melody stood on a large snowball. No such mechanic exists in the final game's snow level, which also takes place during the day.
  • The game's levels are at varying stages of completion
    • The first level features completely different visuals with a broadly similar layout to the final game.
    • The second level abruptly ends near the beginning as the screen does not scroll and My Melody hits an invisible wall.
    • The third level is unfinished, and has the musical notes and robot drop directly onto the path, rather than beginning in the background. There are two walls not present in the final game, which destroys the robots when they walk into it.
    • Level 4 is unfinished and takes place in a grey void.
  • Kuromi recycles My Melody's animations, causing one of her ears to be bent.
  • Robots can be jumped on to defeat them, a mechanic not found in the final game.
  • The flying robots are not yet present, instead represented by the walking robots t-posing in the air.
  • The Kuromi-themed padlock on locked coloring pages uses different artwork.
  • The game features a different home screen icon.
